Balance Pilates Studio offers STOTT PILATES® education and certification programs that empower instructors to motivate, challenge and retain clients long term. Often referred to as the “Ivy League” school of pilates, STOTT PILATES® provides you with the depth of knowledge and practical programming options to teach effective group or personal training programs to clients of any age or fitness level – from post-rehabilitation patients to elite athletes. It’s just one of the reasons our graduates are in high demand worldwide.
STOTT PILATES® Method is continually updated to ensure it complies with modern exercise science and is relevant to fitness professionals, facility operators and clients. Courses are taught by highly skilled STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor Trainers.

Exam Policies and Procedures:
Exam weekends are scheduled 3-4 times a year. The written exam is on Friday from 3-5pm. Practical exams are by appointment on Saturday and Sunday. You may be asked to be a body for another student’s exam on the same weekend. You will be notified of your exact practical exam schedule and exam body assignment via email two weeks before the exam weekend.
The registration deadline is 6 weeks prior to the exam weekend. After this deadline, exam fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

INJURIES & SPECIAL POPULATIONS (ISP)
The STOTT PILATES® Injuries & Special Populations (ISP) course equips you with the skills required to address a broad range of physical challenges among your clients. It is important to note that this course will NOT prepare students to diagnose or treat any specific injuries or conditions or prescribe exercises for these populations without consultation with an appropriate health practitioner (i.e. Physical Therapist, Physiotherapist or similarly recognized health care professional).
Completion of ISP is required for full STOTT PILATES certification.
General course objectives:
- Discuss the Pilates instructor’s role in the rehabilitative process
- Examine the industry standards for screening clients and learn how to begin a Pilates program to safely and appropriately work with special populations
- Discuss the three-level muscle classification system
- Develop and be able to apply a rehabilitative approach based on current models of joint stability
- Examine optimal and dysfunctional biomechanical patterns in various regions of the body
- Review the most common injuries and special populations that may be encountered
- Review appropriate exercise progressions for those injuries and special populations
- Practice programming for specific injuries and special populations

4.0 STOTT PILATES®
Anatomy Review
This workshop is required for all students applying for IMP or IR who do not meet the knowledge of functional anatomy prerequisite. It is also a great review for students who are preparing for exams and a great way for certified instructors to get all of of their CECs for the year. Topics include: basic biomechanics, anatomical terminology, skeletal anatomy, actions at the joints, major muscle groups and their origins, insertions, and actions. Select exercises from the STOTT PILATES® repertoire will also be broken down and analyzed in terms of the functional anatomy at play. Participants will deepen their understanding of the body and enhance their teaching.
