Intensive Mat Plus Course Modules Now Available!
We now offer Intensive Mat Plus in two modules – IMP1 & IMP2. Key learnings are the same as in the full course. The course is simply separated into two modules in order to make achieving your certification easier on your schedule and your wallet!

Intensive Mat Plus Module 1 (IMP1) at Balance Pilates
Jan 18 – 20, Feb 2, 3
Fridays 2 – 7:30pm, Saturdays 12 – 6pm, Sundays 10am – 4pm
Final Registration by Jan 4, 2019:  $745

Intensive Mat Plus Module 2 (IMP2) at Balance Pilates
Feb 15 – 17
Saturdays 12 – 6pm, Sundays 10am – 4pm
Final Registration by Feb 1, 2019:  $450

Please Note: Completion of both modules is required to be eligible for certification. Both modules must be taken within 6 months of each other.

Refund Policy: Tuition is nonrefundable and nontransferable after January 1 for the Full Course and Module 1 and after February 1 for Module 2.

Course Description

IMP provides you with the solid foundation and skills you need to develop effective and motivating group and personal training programs.  This course teaches you to design and teach the Essential and Intermediate Matwork repertoire, integrating small equipment to add variety and meet the specific needs of your clients.  In addition to the general course objectives, you will learn:

  • Workout composition for personal and group training
  • Essential, Intermediate, Power workouts
  • Flex-Band, Fitness Circle and Arc Barrel workouts
  • Effective communication and observational skills, verbal cueing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation
  • Modifications for specific body types, postural issues and conditions
  • How to incorporate resistance equipment to support and intensify exercises
  • Theory and practice of postural analysis
  • Exercise layering related to effective program design
  • 63 exercises plus multiple modifications


  • 40 hours of instruction & supervised teaching conducted over 3 weekends
  • plus a mininimum 10 hours observation, 30 hours of physical review, and 15 hours of practice teaching to be completed outside of class
  • Total: 95 hours
