Are kids who do Pilates smarter?

This is a question that is being debated in Knoxville, TN. The owner of a local pilates studio teaches at schools around the community and parents are seeing a positive change in their children.

Athletes tend to gravitate toward extracurricular classes such as this special offer first. The young athletes are becoming more aware of their bodies, learning how to properly engage their muscles and they are getting stronger. Once all of the kids in school are introduced to this change they want to take part as well. The classes at school are packed and the parents are pleased.

Parents are reporting that their kids are more focused. The instructors believe that because the children are more aware of their bodies they have the ability to eliminate daily pains and injuries. Unlike many adults who complain about daily pains these children recognize them and have the ability to strengthen, stretch and engage their bodies so that the pain is mentally and physically eliminated making more space for other positive information. Doesn’t it make sense that if you can eliminate your discomfort that you would be more focused?
